Summer Day Camps
Pre-Ballet
This class is a perfect introduction to ballet for younger students. Classes focus on music, body movements, creativity and beginner ballet steps while introducing children to a structured environment. 5678! Dance Studio teaches pre-ballet for ages 3 to 4 years.
Pre-Tap
This class is a great introduction to tap for younger students. Classes focus on music, beats, and beginner tap steps while introducing children to a structured environment. 5678! Dance Studio teaches pre-tap for ages 3 to 4 years.
Ballet
This class incorporates all elements of classical ballet (including vocabulary and definitions), with a focus on expanding flexibility, exemplifying grace and developing strong coordination through balance, control, proper arm and feet placement, directional changes, and weight transfer. 5678! offers classical ballet to dancers ages 5-18.
Tap
These classes incorporate traditional and modern forms of tap, expanding the dancer’s awareness of sound and rhythm, while developing their coordination through combinations with the feet, working in the center, and directional changes. 5678! offers tap to dancers ages 5-18.
Lyrical
These classes combine Ballet and Jazz technique with a creative emphasis on emotional and fluid movement. It is a very passionate and story-telling style of dance that portrays certain emotions and interprets the meaning of the music. The song’s lyrics are a driving force and key inspiration for the movement. 5678! Dance Studio teaches lyrical for ages 9 to 18.
Jazz
These classes incorporate energetic turns, leaps, jumps, kicks and formation changes, all while developing strong technique, coordination, musicality, style, partner work, stage direction and more. 5678! teaches classical and contemporary jazz to dancers ages 5-18.
Performance Pom
Pom dance incorporates the technique of jazz dance, while teaching sharpness and precision through intricate arm movements.
These dancers perform at basketball half-times throughout the year and local competitions. These groups begin classes in the fall and practice through mid-May. 5678! offers pom to dancers ages 4 and up.
Hip Hop
Hip Hop is for dancers that are looking for an upbeat dance style. It focuses on level changes, isolations, various techniques, learning to freestyle, including helping the dancer discover their own natural groove, style and taste. Street style dancing is the focus, along with teaching proper technique and body movement. 5678! Dance Studio teaches hip-hop for ages 7 to 18, including a special Boy’s only class.
Tumbling
This class is a gymnastics based class without the apparatus. We start with basic tumbling skills such as forward rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, handstands, and move up to more advanced skills. Our advanced tumbling class works on skills such as back handsprings, front and back tucks, aerial cartwheels and more. Placement in Advanced class is based on your level of ability.
Technique
Technique is a structured class that concentrates on strengthening, stretching, jumps, leaps, turns, all at an advanced level. This class focuses on teaching dancers how to understand their body and musculature to develop strong technical skills. Examples of technique that is worked on in class are a la seconde turns, calypso leaps, and battement pirouettes. 5678! Dance Studio teaches technique for ages 7 to 18.
All Star Dance
All Star Team focus on the competitive side of dance. The competition dance teams cover a broader scale focusing on various dance styles including pom, jazz, and lyrical. For competition teams there is more emphasis on technique, and tryouts are held for class placement in May. These dancers are required to dance year round.
